Burley Lodge B.H.S Riding School and Livery Yard Visit - Carolyn revisits to see how all 17 horses she has supplied over the years at the yard are getting on…

On Monday 27th May, I had the great pleasure of visiting Burley Lodge Equestrian Centre to see how the horses and ponies for clients there are getting along. Bridget Hart and her staff were very helpful in organising groups of horses and riders so I could watch how much each individual has progressed.

They all rode and jumped a course of fences for me. Then we had a chat about their many successes and future goals. The smallest of ponies was 12hh and largest was 17.1hh. When I was looking to find the right horses for clients, I took great care so that they would not only suit their owners, but also be a good working livery in the Riding School.

Burley Lodge has excellent facilities with plenty of grazing in well fenced paddocks. There are three arenas including a small indoor school, a cross country course and superb show jumping arena. All the clients seemed very happy with their horses and ponies; it was great to see this. Burley Lodge provides a friendly and efficient service including riding lessons and individual instruction. They will be holding an annual show on Saturday 10th August, please check their website for more details:

After selling and supplying horses for Vauxhall City Farm, Carolyn revists to find out how the charity for inner city children is progressing...

This winter I had the pleasure of re visiting Vauxhall City Farm in the heart of London to see how the horses I have supplied to them are progressing. It was a very cold dull day but I was soon given a warm welcome from Linda Hinds and her groom Rachel.

I was given a tour of this amazing inner city farm which is mostly run through charitable means. The farm and stables are a breath of fresh air in this suburban area. It is free to enter the farm and to look at and stroke the goats, horses, pigs, lamas etc. There is a large pond where many interesting fowl can be found. Many children and some adults do not have the time or means to visit the countryside that I take for granted so this facility has a very valuable place in our society and should be supported.

The horses I supplied were looking very happy and well looked after. The horse riding is available to book for lessons in their large fenced menage. Vauxhall City Farm also teach disabled childen, having worked previously with the R.D.A (Riding for the Disabled Assosiation) it was brilliant to see this opportunity for disadvantaged youngsters. The staff are all well trained and exceptionally friendly.

If you want to offer your services as a helper or perhaps make a donation to this excellent cause, Linda Hinds would love to here from you.

I would like to take this oportunity to thank Linda and her team for giving the horses I supplied such an excellent home and wish Vauxhall City Farm all the best for the future.
